Define the opportunity before the footprint
A new marketplace should have a clear role in the business. Identify the customer opportunity, the products that fit and the resources available to support the channel. Expansion creates more than another storefront: it adds content, stock, service and reporting requirements. Those responsibilities belong in the decision from the beginning.
Review product and channel requirements
Requirements vary by platform, location and product. Confirm what needs to be reviewed before launch, including product information, account eligibility, labeling and operational arrangements. Bring the appropriate specialists into decisions that require them. A readiness review should distinguish confirmed capabilities from assumptions that still need an answer.
Connect inventory, fulfillment and service
Decide how products will reach customers and who will handle exceptions. Forecasting, replenishment, delivery and customer communication need clear owners. Review how the new channel affects the stock and capacity required by the existing business. The plan should explain what happens when demand changes or a shipment does not go as expected.
Create a consistent brand experience
The channel may require a different presentation, but the brand’s identity and approved product information should remain coherent. Establish the content and approval workflow, then define how performance will be reviewed. A measured expansion plan helps the team learn about the opportunity while maintaining a clear view of the work and investment involved.
